Unlike previous product reviews, the following infection control product review was sought out by the OUTFOX Prevention team. We have been witnessing that phones are a growing germ medium and wanted to help you know how to best combat infection.

The first section of this hygiene product review will discuss the problem with germs on phones.  It will be followed by the review on Zig Zig (DigiClean Plus Microfiber Screen Cleaners).

Germs on Phones: An Epidemic

We are constantly touching our phones with our hands, which are often the dirtiest parts of our bodies. Hands carry and pass germs constantly because of all that we touch (door handles, community pens, elevator buttons, shopping carts, gas station pumps and so forth).

Our hands can even be dirtier than toilet seats!  Why the hand and phone germ connection? Because phones store bacteria from our constantly dirty hands.

Hands and phones frequent the facial region where germs can enter through our eyes, nose and mouth. So for cause and effect, take care of the germs on the phone and we can stop spreading as many germs into our bodies.

Phones are now our day planners, watches, credit cards, Game Boys, music and so forth... We need to protect our devices to protect ourselves.

We estimate that by reducing germs on your phone(s), you can reduce illness by 15-20%.  Keeping a clean phone is only part of healthy strategy, but it's a start!

Zig Zig Review

For the last month, I have carried a Zig Zig sticker around with me on the back of my phone.  Other test subjects have done the same for us.  So, here is a compilation of the reviews for this infection control product.

"The Zig Zig was very handy and not an extremely noticeable addition to my iPhone."

"This is awesome!  I love that I can clean my screen and know it is fighting germs as well."

"Where can I buy more of these to give to my friends and family?"

"Besides killing germs- the Zig Zig was a great accessory!"

The OUTFOX Infection Take

Overall, the Zig Zig passes the germ fighting test.  It's small and effective.   For the price, you can't beat having a cleaning agent accessible on your phone.  It sure beats carrying around sanitizing spray, wet wipes or other cleaning method.  We do, however, recommend using a sanitizing solution every once and a while.

It's worth a try to reduce germs with the Zip Zip.  We intend to buy some for friends and family to help reduce the spread of illness.

Hand hygiene is important, and this is a great medium to work on (since phones and other devices are now part of our bodies).  We also found a solution for the germs spread by pens and other writing utensils.  Check out the Clean Pen here.
